The RWD Lamborghini Huracan LP580-2

Ahh, Lamborghini, the car for men who have lots of chest hair, and likes cigars. But for some of those men, it’s just not enough to have a “normal” Lambo, oh no, they just have to have the new Huracan LP580-2. You know, the normal Huracan who went on a diet, and forgot how to use four wheel drive. Yes Folks, this fancy cell phone named Lamborghini is rear wheel drive!

In this day and age of hybrids and full electric cars, Lamborghini seem a little old fashioned, making them more popular than ever. While others are looking to satisfy tree huggers and save little frogs, the Lamborghini helps their lasting legacy, writing their names in the fossilized trees of the future, all while happily lashing flames from unburnt fuel from its backside.

Judging from the figures, merely calling it a supercar is like saying Natalie Portman is “okay”. It just isn’t. She’s beautiful, and the Lamborghini Huracan LP580-2 proves it wants to be driven.

Lamborghini Huracan LP580-2 – Power

Not much has changed power wise, except the lack of two drive shafts, a modestly reduced bhp number, and a different brake system.  “How dare they reduce power?” AHH, simple. The car, as mentioned before is lighter, and rear wheel drive, and sometimes, less is more.

Still featuring the howling 5.2-litre V10 engine, its reworked power ratings now stands at 571bhp and 540Nm of torque. Using the same seven-speed dual-clutch setup, 0-62mph takes only 3.4 seconds, and allows for a modest top speed of 199 mph.

This results in a car that is built to drive, and enjoy driving quickly. The new layout allows for a 40:60 front-to-rear weight distribution, and three different driving modes, the Huracan LP580-2 is said to be tail happy. That means fun, loads of smoking tyres, and potential death while wearing a big smile.

What’s more is 75% of torque is available from 1,000rpm, and some electronic wizardry makes sure this is the cleanest Lambo yet with a combined fuel cycle of 11.9 litres per 100Kms and CO2 levels at only 278 g/km.

Sadly though, this model will not be made available with a manual option. Lamborghini figures very few, if any, would have been ordered that way.

Styling

A few subtle changes have been made to the front and rear, making it different than its four-wheel drive counterpart. The main difference in the front is the large air intakes, then a spoiler lip at the rear, together with a rising diffuser in the underbody, and a different stance. It now sits on new 19 inch Kamari rims wrapped in Pirelli Pzero tyres exclusively developed for the LP580-2.

In the end this Huracan LP580-2 is not about being the quickest in the line-up, because frankly, everyone can build cars that go like a rocket, it is about the purity of driving, and pure enjoyment!
